TransitWorks Receives Ford Director’s Award for Top Mobility Volume
For the 16th year in a row, TransitWorks was once again recognized as Ford Motor’s Top Volume Mobility producer (for FY 2018). The award was presented to Dennis Summers, TransitWorks VP of Business Development & Product Innovation at the Ford Fleet Preview Meeting held May 8-10, 2019 in Denver, CO.
The Top Volume in Mobility recognition by Ford dates back to 2002.
Community Access Transport Debuts at National Fleet Management Association Show in Louisville Kentucky
Displayed at the NAFA 2019 Institute & Expo this past week in Louisville, TransitWorks new Community Access Transport was designed for serving all types of metro riders with efficient curb-side entry and exit. A heavy-duty lift for wheelchair passengers offers safe accessibility, while a 27” wide and 80” tall walk-in door provides generous height for all size passengers. Combined with our SmartFloor seating and flooring technology, the Community Access Transport provides businesses of all types with the flexibility and performance to meet their changing ridership needs.
Still in its testing phase, the Community Access Transport van is scheduled to be available in Q3 of this year.

TransitWorks will be displaying its new Impression Series, VIP executive-style transporters at the International Luxury Coach and Transportation Show (LCT) being held March 24 – 27 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. Celebrating its 35th year, the International Luxury Coach and Transportation Show is the biggest convention in the world for the luxury charter transportation industry.

Certified PASS Driver Training Coming to Richfield, Ohio (Akron/Cleveland area)
TransitWorks is proud to announce Certified PASS Driver Training (Passenger Assistance Safety & Sensitivity) from the CTAA (Community Transportation Association of America) will soon be available at our Richfield, OH location. Upcoming scheduled dates currently include:
- May 8
- August 7
- November 6

- Discounted Price: $249.00 per person
- Limited Space: Just 16 seats per session
- PASS consists of two parts:
o Online session – approximately 4 hours. Covers important topics like the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), disability awareness, emergency evacuation, and more
o Hands-On session – up to 5 hours. Covers lift operating procedures, wheelchair securement and more. Each attendee will get the opportunity for to individually secure a wheelchair and passenger, and also get the unique perspective of being a wheelchair passenger.
- PASS Training Certification is valid for 3 years

TransitWorks was featured on the cover (and in a full-page article) in FordPros Magazine, the official magazine of the National Ford Truck Club.
The news article, shown on page 15, was published in the FordPros Technology Section titled “New Walk In Entry Door on the Ford Transit”. This new walk-in entry door built on the Ford Transit is located behind the rear wheels on the passenger side of an extended length T-350.

The TransitWorks Team was be on hand at The Chauffeur Driven Show in Booth #200 to present our brand new Impression Series VIP Style Transporters – built on the Ford Transit and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Each vehicle has its own distinct features with cost-efficient, stylish enhancements and comfortable seating upgrades designed for the limousine, hospitality, corporate shuttle, and guided tour markets.

New Mercedes-Benz Metris WAV Now Available
We are pleased to announce that production has started on our new ADA compliant Mercedes-Benz Metris with vehicles now being delivered to dealers throughout the country.
Produced in Ladson, SC, this vehicle is equipped with an integrated rear access fold-out ramp and electronic assist passenger loading system.
Marketed as the Metris WAV, an acronym for wheelchair accessible vehicle, it is the first conversion of its kind for the Mercedes-Benz brand being built in the United States.
When not being used to transport a wheelchair passenger, the Metris WAV ramp folds flat to create a spacious cargo area in the van. Second row seating can be provided for two or three passengers, depending on client preference, with optional ‘Tip & Fold’ seats also available for third row seating of two ambulatory passengers.

TransitWorks Provides Ford GoRide NEMT Services with Wheelchair Transport Vehicles and Training
In late 2017, Ford Motor’s Smart Mobility division launched a new GoRide Intelligent Shuttle non-emergency medical transportation service, in conjunction with Beaumont Health Network. Beaumont is Michigan’s largest healthcare system. With the GoRide Service, patients have the ability to pre-book transport up to 30 days in advance, or simply call when needed.
The program now picks up and drops off to more than 200 facilities in the Detroit area. GoRide currently has 15 Ford Transit vehicles in its fleet, with plans to have as many as 60 in the near future.
TransitWorks is proud to be the upfitter on all of the GoRide Ford Transit wheelchair transport vans, and is excited to continue working on the program as it expands. TransitWorks also provided Passenger Assistance, Safety and Sensitivity (PASS) training to GoRide drivers and staff.

TransitWorks Opens New South Carolina Manufacturing Facility
TransitWorks announced that the company started a new production line in Ladson, South Carolina. The new facility, which officially opened in January, is located on the Mercedes-Benz North Charleston Campus and is phase one of TransitWorks’ expansion plans into additional product lines and product offerings built on Mercedes-Benz products.
Initial conversions built by TransitWorks will include Mercedes-Benz Sprinter transporters and Metris commercial van conversions, including the all new Metris WAV wheelchair accessible van. The Metris production line will be the only commercially available Mercedes-Benz minivan in the United States being converted specifically for wheelchair passengers.
News Update: The Metris WAV is now available to the New York City wheelchair taxi dealer market, where it has been approved by the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission.
